He is half-way there.

As one of my friend who was there, told me – day consisted of 2 parts. First one – celebration – where thousands of people gathered together to celebrate the Day of Liberty/Will(will and liberty in belarussin language are represented by one word). This was very powerful and inspiring action. It was a rejoicing. It was birth and growth of hope in hearts of many. People saw and understand that they are nation, they are united in common struggle for freedom.

But there also was the second part… Grim one. When people were attacked by theirs own ‘protectors’, theirs own ‘brothers’, who could be no more called as such. Today whole world saw the real face of The Last Dictator of Europe – Alyaksandr Lukashenko. Mad and brutal. His dogs started ‘bitting’ after first command of theirs master, without hesitation and mercy. Congratulation, Sasha, you’ve grown very faithful slaves.
But despite that many were injured, some killed, lot of arrested, and some disappeared…Despite that more and more people became aware who is their ‘leader’ and what country they are living in. More people became aware that they are not alone. More people stop being indifferent. There was not only blood in the air today. There was a scent of freedom. There was also a smoke that comes from the pile of dictatorship. And this fire Luka won’t be able to quell.

nothing really happining right now…. Jails in Minsk overloaded. People are awaiting trials on Monday. EU and US blamed Lukashenko once again. This time looks EU seriously concerned about everything that is going on… I believe there will be silence for a while… But there won’t be silence among protesters… I believe folks over there will start preparing for the next step.

Next mass action will be on April 26th, that is call “Chenrobylski Shliah”. Traditionally many people gathered on this day in Minsk… but this year won’t be the same…

Thanks much, Xela. I appreciated your information during these important days. I’ll be back now and then to see what’s going on. In the meantime, best wishes for yourself and for all the freedom seekers in Belarus!

i read on charter’97 that the representent of this organization who arrived in Minsk from London is arrested because he didn’t declare all his currency…
how pennible is lukasenka’s regime!
huo!
i can hear the order from kgb who said: that man shall not pass. that man is very dangerous for us. you must stop him anyhow!
i wander what are thinking the belarussians who liked, sincerly the dictator and now they see that he is a criminal.
what procent of urban population has Belarus?

hard to say…there are a lot of russians live over there, but most populatioin is whether native belarusians or assimilated russians. Level of urbanization I believe is quite high…capital is somewhere around 2 millions and total population of the country is slightly below 10 millions… there are 5 more cities there with population around 300-500 thousands…

but true my friend has said… Belarus under full control of Russia at that moment…and it would be hard to overthrown both Lukashenko and Russia’s dominion, yet not impossible…

i saw in an encyclopedia that in Belarus live 11 million people ( 20% catholics and protestants)

80% belarusians
12% russians
5% polish
3% ukrainians
and Minsk has 1 700 000 poeple (it was founded in se XI !)

it is good that the capital is so big. what could lukasenko do if half of them will be on the streets?…

Nothing, just nothing….Forget about half, 60-80 thousands would make lukashenka nuts

please keep in mind that police forces over there are about 100 thousands… plus army….I don’t think he will hesitate using them.
Do you know that his son, who working as his consultant of internal defense issues, was one of those who planned riot police actions on 25th?.. ‘nice’ family…
